Pioneers of Haarlem

Their mothers came to Haarlem 60 years ago from Turkiye to support their families and their husbands. These first generation immigrant Turkish women faced many many difficulties not only because of relocating to a complete other culture, climate, circumstances but also being a young women with children in 70's.80's. Their daughters saw and learned from their mothers to stand and fight on difficulties
Their mothers were pioneers. Today, they are pioneers and their stories are inspiring. My three portraits are meant to show strength, power and will of these integrated third generation women.

Mother leaves her career and gives all her atention to her child. When she wants to come back and find a job again, it feels like she is a mermaid who landed suddenly on shore. She has the legs but does not know how to walk. She is not different person but it feels like she is not herself anymore. I dedicated this series to all mothers who want to return to their careers after many years of gap.

People who are hunted by tragic events,disaster, how do they reinvent the past and cpe with future.It is a thin line sometimes between the darkness leaded by disaster and magically invented truths of life ends up lighting up the human spirit. And they need to have this magical strengt to go on further.

Girl in the early teens, scret and mystery she holds and life holds for her.Openness and self consciousness battles fights shyness and insecurity. Portraits in this series have a style which hides more than it reveals.Darkness lit up only by their faces and hands. But while being photographed the girls show a glimpse of their secrets, their mysteries and their magical now and then.

2012 does not look promissing for these dutch farmers. Their siblings chose to work in offices they are the ones took fathers job. Although technology is helping them a lot but it is always difficult to make farm bigger cause they cannot find human help. With climate change and globalization their work turn to hobby. What happens if they are the last farmers in the Netherlands. Do we choose products stayed in containers week long with all sort of pesticides.

Living in Haarlem next to Franz Hals museum. It was a must for me to realise this project. Dutch women in golden art age style in museum interior. Wanted to see how it could have been.

In the Netherlands on many areas people help eachother as volunteers. In this series I met several people from all different backgrounds. They were helping to provide free food for homeless with presenting their food where they grow up. World Kitchen Haarlem.

Dutch football club. Almost every neighborhoord has its own club. Being in this environment is aneccesity for social life of dutch locals. Whether they will improve their talent or not that is just another question. In most of the clubs, sport is just recreational not for developing top sporters.

Same brand food in all supermarkets , same kitchens, same houses with ikea tables, same time dinner on table, same clothes from H&M same holiday habits same camping destinations. Is that also same at the east of land where IJssel river runs.
Spot Kijkers (Spotting)

Spotting for airplanes. As I am living very close to Amsterdam airport it is also my hobby to slow down on the highway to catch driving under an airplane plane while it is on the air preparing for landing or departing. It excites me every time to drive under a plane that weighs tons, has more than 100 people on it, and is not very far off the ground. There are also Airplane Spotters ( Spot Kikers). They come from miles around from all over the Netherlands, waiting for hours to photograph the planes. My series is about to expose the excitement of this people who has some other interest with airplanes.

I wanted to examine the landscape in Holland where I just started as resident but still an alien. I tried capturing frames to express naked nature of landscapes close to me using an unobtrusive human model with different choices of fabrics. My aim was to make this combination as harmonious as it can.
